Today is day 13 of the #iheartBible challenge that I’m hosting. If you have joined up, hooray! I’m glad you’re here. If you want to join up, then awesomesauce! Check out the challenge post for details and join in on the linky so we can all read one another’s posts during the challenge. I love Jesus and blogging, so I’m glad to see people joining in. We’d love to have you join, too. It’s never too late!
Today’s verse is John 13.35. Read it below in its context (Why do I care about context?):
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Again, we are keeping with the theme of love this week with this verse.
You know how, sometimes, a verse comes your way and evokes no emotion. Not good emotion. Not bad emotion.
That’s me, today. I have worked non-stop today an am so ready. for. bed.
But I’m glad I just came across this verse because it reminds me that, even if I feel like I don’t have time, love still needs to be my priority.
Even if my students are driving me bonkers.
Even if I have more papers to organize, lessons to create, and units to ponder than ever before.
Even if my husband is driving me crazy.
Even if the I feel so empty and dry that I could scream.
Don’t worry. I’m not really in that kind of shape today. Aside from being busy, things are good.
But I want to take more time to love those around me today. I’m not talking about loving others when I have time. Not “leftover love,” but genuine love–intentional love.
I want to be known as a disciple of Jesus because I love people so well.
Loving others calms the heart, focuses the mind, and fills the heart.
Have you experienced this?
Love,
