On Friday night, I went to the Crestview Town Center to hang out with Margaret.  I had a milk shake since I had been craving some sort of desert.  We walked around and chatted and found fun cards at the Halmark store.  It was an enjoyable time.  I’m glad that I went; I almost didn’t.

We stopped in to Bed Bath and Beyond.  When we were walking through the store, I casually told Margaret that I wanted to give my dining room a Hollywood theme.  She was thinking about some decorations for her kitchen and shared those thoughts, as well.  Wouldn’t you know it?  About five minutes (maybe not even that long) later, we came across a sort of half-wall of wall art filled with Hollywood-themed decor as well as the same theme Margaret was looking for!  I was amazed, of course, and sort of upset because I hadn’t planned on decorating my dining room for another year or so, maybe.  So, then, I went into that’s-not-fair mode.  There were three seperate pieces of wall art that I wanted, right there in front of me.  These pieces of novelty art were exactly as I had pictured, but I didn’t even really know they existed.  Margaret decided she’d buy one of them as a graduation gift (Those Maddoxes… I tell ya’, they’re so giving!).  So, I decided that I could suck it up and get the other two pieces.  One of them is a movie tickets plaque, the other is a director’s clapboard, and the last piece is a film reel.  I’m way pumped about the possibilities for the wall.  I have a couple of other ideas for the wall, but time will tell what I will actually go with.  First, I thought maybe I’d try to paint on a sort of “spotlight” circle around one or two of the pieces, but I would be so anal about the circle being perfect and painted precicely that it’d drive me nuts.  Then, I thought maybe I could put some uplights in the corners of the wall, since the wall sort of has a built-in sort of shadow box to it.  Of course I’m going to try to find a good poster of the something Hollywood.  The wall will likely be a grey or silver color.

There’s something about shopping with other people that causes me to spend money.  I wonder how many other people have this same tendency.  🙂
