Today is day 19 of the #iheartBible challenge that I’m hosting.  If you have joined up, hooray! I’m glad you’re here.  If you want to join up, then awesomesauce!  Check out the challenge post for details and join in on the linky so we can all read one another’s posts during the challenge.  I love Jesus and blogging, so I’m glad to see people joining in.  We’d love to have you join, too.  It’s never too late!

Today’s verse is Deuteronomy 31.6.  Read it below in its context (Why do I care about context?):

1 So Moses continued to speak these words to all Israel. 2 And he said to them, “I am 120 years old today. I am no longer able to go out and come in. The Lord has said to me, ‘You shall not go over this Jordan.’ 3 The Lord your God himself will go over before you. He will destroy these nations before you, so that you shall dispossess them, and Joshua will go over at your head, as the Lord has spoken. 4 And the Lordwill do to them as he did to Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites, and to their land, when he destroyed them. 5 And the Lord will give them over to you, and you shall do to them according to the whole commandment that I have commanded you. 6 Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

I think people more often remember the end of this verse: He will not leave you or forsake you.  In the context, this was a promise that God wouldn’t leave or forsake the Israelites as they went into war.

Sometimes, life can feel like a war.  Sometimes more than others.  Here, Moses encourages the people to be strong and courageous since God will go with them and will stay.

During our lives, when feeling like life is a war, remember that God is with you and will not leave.  Ever.

Love,
