Today is day 16 of the #iheartBible challenge that I’m hosting.  If you have joined up, hooray! I’m glad you’re here.  If you want to join up, then awesomesauce!  Check out the challenge post for details and join in on the linky so we can all read one another’s posts during the challenge.  I love Jesus and blogging, so I’m glad to see people joining in.  We’d love to have you join, too.  It’s never too late!

Today’s verse is Psalm 138.1.  Read it below in its context (Why do I care about context?):

1 I give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart;
before the gods I sing your praise;

2 I bow down toward your holy temple
and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness,
for you have exalted above all things
your name and your word.
3 On the day I called, you answered me;
my strength of soul you increased.

I have so much to thank God for.  And I thank God for these things, and more, with my whole heart:

Health: I am healthy.  Even when I am ill, I have general health.  I heal.  And, by God’s grace, my body is strong.

The Husband: You had to know this would make the list.  My husband loves Jesus, is intelligent, shares warmth, solves problems, works hard, and loves his family.  I mean, really, what else is there?

Employment: God has always provided me with reliable employment; I worked two jobs in high school, had one of the highest-paying jobs for students on campus during college, found summer and even winter break jobs during college, obtained a teaching position right out of college, and even continued my teaching career after moving to another state.  Wow, Jesus!  Amazing!

Christian upbringing: I am so glad that my parents brought me up to love Jesus and His Word.  I’m not a perfect Jesus-lover, but I do love Him due to my parents’ example.

And there are so many other things I’m thankful for.  Thankful that things haven’t happened: car accidents, deaths, pink slips, failures, etc.  God has truly provided and protected.  He has always been present and has always answered prayers.

Be thankful,
