Today is day eight of the #iheartBible challenge that I’m hosting.  If you have joined up, hooray! I’m glad you’re here.  If you want to join up, then awesomesauce!  Check out the challenge post for details and join in on the linky so we can all read one another’s posts during the challenge.  I love Jesus and blogging, so I’m glad to see people joining in.  We’d love to have you join, too.

Today’s verse is Philippians 4.7.  Read it below in its context (Why do I care about context?):

4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

I have often prayed for the peace of God which is beyond my understanding.  My prayers have often been answered.

This verse makes me think of such a time.

Once, The Husband was facing a major change in his ministry funding and affiliation.  We were actually engaged at the time and a lot of other things were scary, as we had already been praying that a lot of things would fall in place for my move to his city.  When this was added in, I would normally have been crazy with worry.  As The Husband called me to tell me what was about to happen, I was completely at peace with the major change that was about to happen in our soon-to-be joined life.  This was great because without that peace, I would not have been able to be the support that my then-fiance really needed.

But, as I look at this verse, I can’t help but be enlightened by the context.  A few things are to lead to this amazing peace: rejoicing in the Lord, being reasonable, not being anxious, and being in communion with God.

True dat. In my life, I’ve definitely seen the correlation in my experience of walking with Jesus.

Have you?

Love,
