Seriously. I did.  And my pinky popped.

Here’s the thing: I was just waking from a dream.  An interesting dream.  A crazy dream.  Wanna read about the dream? That’s besides the point. (Read: The dream is briefed below.)

Anyway, in my dream, I was crouching with some things in my right hand. To help me get up, I was throwing my left hand out to help me hop up.

About that time, lifted up, turned to look at me, and POW! I nailed him in his right eye.  He even said “Ow!”  He never says “ow.”  He said he will probably have a black eyes. (Who knew I had a left jab!?)

I felt horrible, but the other events of my dream had me rolling with laughter.  Hysterical laughter.  The kind that you can no longer hear because it’s traveled to the back of the throat and just bounces around until you can breathe again.

But I did feel horrible and I couldn’t stop laughing.

I even went to the restroom so I could let it all out. And I looked hysterical in the mirror.

I worried that I had become a lunatic.

I apologized.  But I was laughing so much I don’t know how authentic it sounded. He said, “You are forgiven,” and I continued laughing and apologizing.  I couldn’t hold back, but I truly was sorry.

But, let’s take a moment to reflect on my husband’s reaction.

He forgave me.

He didn’t get angry with me.  He didn’t yell at me.  He didn’t hold it against me.

He simply forgave me.

I can vouch that my husband is not perfect, but he shows me so much of who God is every day.  Just as God forgives and doesn’t hold our sin against us, Seth does the same thing.

“…as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.” -Psalm 103.12

God’s awesome like that.  He forgives us of our mistakes and doesn’t hold them against us.

Don’t get me wrong; Seth and I continue to laugh about the incident.  Forgiveness and forgetfulness are not one and the same.

I love Seth; I’m so glad he helps me to admire God, too.

Go forth and be forgiven!

Love,

My dream:

For some reason, I was in Asia.  Actually, the reason was that I was there is that I was a missionary.  I think Seth was there, but I didn’t see him.

The Asians, who were speaking Asian… dreams are weird, were protecting us from the government who were after us.  The Asians who were protecting us had a change of heart and, of course Seth was in the other room hitting things and being loud.

I wanted to appease the Asians, so I thought I’d give them candy and fish.  There were just crates of candy around and a few filets of fish.  So, I gathered a ton of candy; there were crates of Airheads and FunDip packages in the room, so I gathered some to give them.

They let me out and the Americans were coming to rescue us.  So, I was in this sparse jungle and I was crouching behind a tree with the loads of candy in my right hand.  I hopped up to scurry closer to where the Americans were and then crouched behind another tree.  This time, when I tried to hop up, real life Seth’s face was right there and I popped him in the eye.

All I could think of was the candy and fish. And how I had accidentally popped Seth in the face.
