Today is the last day of 2006.  Wow!  I don’t want it to be over.  I mean, afterall, a lot of good things happened in 2006.  Two-thousand six was an amazing year!

To recap:

  • I graduated from Georgetown College with a decent GPA and a BA in English.
  • I applied and was accepted to the MAT program at NKU.
  • I finished one semester at NKU with a 4.0.  My thought so far: I hate the school, but it is an evil necessity and I will survive.
  • I applied for teaching jobs all over the northern Kentucky area.
  • I was hired to teach English at Scott High School in Taylor Mill, Kentucky.
  • I have almost finished an entire semester as a teacher at Scott High.
  • I worked in Fairfield, Ohio, for the second consecutive summer.  However, this time, I lived at home while doing so.
  • I moved home from school only to find that my room is smaller now that I’m an adult and I can’t get enough of my own space.
  • I still procrastinate, but usually get everything done on time.
  • I bought a new laptop that is supersweet and more than I need.
  • I made a new dear friend: Michele.  She’s cool, level-headed and a good balance to me.
  • I got an electric guitar.  I traded in my keyboard for it.  It’s sweet and blue.  My love!

So, there we have it.  Am I going to make any lists for next year?  Hmm… I’m not sure.  Ok, ok, ok… I do have goals.  Being a realist and a dreamer, I have goals that I will strive to achieve, but will try not to let my life fall apart if I don’t achieve them.  Afterall, I am a procrastinator, so if I don’t achieve them, it’s probably because I procrastinated.

  • Pay off my car.  This is at the top of my list.  If I pay off my car, I’ll be one step closer to buying a house, which is my goal for 2008.
  • Save da moolah.  I’m going to try to put some money back into a Roth IRA starting in August, when I get my new raise.  This money will go toward some goal I have after I buy a house, or, if I need it, financing that house.
  • Stop procrastinating.  Starting with the new school year in August, I’m seriously going to try not to do things related to work at the very last minute.  I am a better teacher when I plan ahead.  That is going to be my goal after I get this first year under my belt.  This goes hand in hand with the fact that I want to…
  • Be a better teacher.  This will also require me to ex the whole procrastination thing, but I want to be a better teacher content-wise.  I think I’m good at showing most of my students that I care about them, but I hope that I can be better at teaching them the technical things they need to know to be an excellent English student– and a student in general.
  • Gather information on a new house.  I’m going to go to a place called UBuildIt and get all the info they have.  Apparently, I can save thousands if I build a house through them.  I can plan my own house and pay them for the blueprints, and then contract out all the stuff that has to be done.  It may be a little slower or a little faster, but we’ll see.  I may not have time to deal with them.  I may just have to hire a builder to do all that jazz.
  • And, for fun, I want to learn and memorize the placement of powerchords on my electric guitar.  I love it!

Okay, is that good?  Are you happy?  I’ve made two lists.  I don’t do new year’s resolutions.  I just don’t, but I always have goals in mind.  Many of my goals are actually revolved around the school calendar, since that’s really when I begin again.

Did I mention that I can’t wait until summer break?

Have a very safe and happy 2007!

God Bless <><
